Restarick

Motto: “Utmost for the highest”.
Colour: Crimson

Restarick House was named after Rev. Restarick, Manager of the school for a period of 13 years from 1917 – 1930. He took over from Rev. Rigby. He too did a lot for Methodist College and it was mainly due to his efforts that the present Hostel was built. When he left, Methodist College had not only lost a manager but a dear friend as well.

Restarick House Song
Raise the Red and Green on high
Proudly let our colours fly
Bravely stand we at the fore
Rise we high or fall we low, low, low.

Raise the Scarlet and the Emerald to the sky
Let the “utmost for the highest” ever fly
Sporting spirits always there among the crimson never rare
Therefore forward bravely forward be our cry.

Choate House was named after Miss. Mary Choate who became Principal in 1894. Miss. Choate was at Methodist Collage for a long period of 33 years, 26 of which she served as Principal. She left to get married to Rev. J. S. Carlett. It is interesting to note that she always wore a brown dress – and perhaps that is how the house got its colour.

Proudly let our colours fly
Bravely stand we at the fore
Rise we up or fall we low, low, low.

Rigby House was named after the Rev. Rigby who was the manager of the school during two different periods, the 2nd period being 1907 – 1917. When he first came, Methodist College was a small school, ill-housed, with poor facilities. But he believed we had a future and worked towards building new classrooms, a dream he achieved in 1916.

Proudly let our colours fly

Ever ready all to dare
Therefore let us echo “Never say Die”
