Athletics
The Athletic Team practices every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at Torrington Grounds, Sugathadasa Stadium and at the school grounds from 2 – 4p.m.
In the 2011 Divisional Meet the team representing Methodist College were placed the Over-all Champions and Junior Champions. Vanessa Perera and Kamini Jayasinghe were the age group champions.
The Junior Team was placed Champions in the Zonal Meet.
Divisional Meet
In the Under 11 category Sabeeha Mysan was placed 2nd in the 75m and 100m events and Shenali secured the 1st place in High Jump.
In the Under 13 Age group Vanessa Perera won the 2nd place in the 100m event and the 1st place in the 200m event in which Harshini Shelveraja won 2nd place. Yelani Dias won the 1st place in High Jump.
The Under 13 team comprising of Rachel Cronenburg, Yelani Dias, Harshini Shelveraja and Vanessa Perera was placed 1st in the 4×100m event.
In the under 15 category Kamini Jayasighe won the 1st place in the 100m hurdles and the 400m event and won the 2nd place in High jump. Amasha Gunawardena won the 3rd place in Putt shot and the 1st place in Discus Throw.
The under 15 team comprising of Kamini Jayasinghe, Layesha Rathnayake, Nishendri Perera and Abigail Thambiraja was placed 1st in the 4×400m event.
The athletes in the under 17 category performed very well and obtained several awards.

In the under 19 age group, Roshenka Philips won the 3rd in
400m Hurdles. Minoshala Nissanka won 2nd place in the 1000m event and Shashini Abeygunawardena won the 3rd place in High Jump.
Zonal Meet 2011
Methodist College won the Junior Championship in the Zonal Meet 2011 with the athletic team winning several awards.
Sabiha Myson won 3rd place in 100m in the under 11 age group.

Minoshala Nissanka won the 2nd place in the 5000m event in the Under 19 category.
